It means that either one has inflammations or infections in the body. Consult with a doctor to know the root cause and investigate further.
ESR increases during menstruation because there is a significant decrease in the hematocrit levels which results in faster fall of red blood cells which in turn leads to increase in ESR levels.
Your doctor might advise taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn) corticosteroid therapy to reduce inflammation.
All types of junk food containing unhealthy oils which increase inflammations should be avoided to control ESR levels. Instead, foods such as fruits and cooking oil such as olive oil should be used to lower ESR levels.
