View allI've been diagnosed with grade 1 fatty liver and have multiple gallstones ranging from 3 to 8mm. What treatment options do I have and is surgery necessary for this condition? I'm a bit worried about whether lifestyle changes alone would be enough or if I need medical intervention.
For grade 1 fatty liver and gallstones, a combination of lifestyle changes and, potentially, medical intervention might be necessary. I've been having some issues for about a month now with not being able to completely pass my stools. Even when I try hard, it feels like my bowels aren't getting fully emptied, and I'm constantly feeling tired and sleepy. There's also this pain that's been persistent in my legs, right side of my stomach, and back area. I've noticed I'm coughing more often than usual too. Sometimes my lips feel a little burnt, and I keep getting this odd taste in my mouth. I often feel the urge to have a bowel movement, but when I get to the bathroom, the feeling just slows down. I can't seem to pass gas completely either, and it's like I can feel the gas moving around in my stomach. What could be causing all this?

I've been having really bad pain when passing stool for the past 3 weeks - it's gotten so bad I can't even go to work. A doctor back home recommended surgery but I'm not sure what to do. Are there other treatment options I could try first or should I go ahead with the surgery?
It sounds like you're dealing with significant pain while passing stool, and it's impacting your ability to work. Given the doctor's recommendation for surgery, it's wise to explore all options, but it's also crucial to get a second opinion. You could start with conservative treatments for painful bowel movements, such as dietary changes, over-the-counter medications, and warm baths. If these don't provide relief, discuss with your doctor if other options like prescription medications or physical therapy might be appropriate before considering surgery.
