Nicotine is a chemical compound that is produced by several kinds of plants, including the tobacco plant. All tobacco products like cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, hookah, and e-cigarettes contain nicotine.

When you smoke tobacco, the air sacs in your lungs absorb the nicotine, and it’s then released into your bloodstream.
