You should not have a fasting sugar test done if you have eaten anything before the test.

Insulin reduces the body's blood sugar levels and provides cells with glucose for energy by helping cells absorb glucose. When blood sugar levels are too low, the pancreas releases glucagon. Glucagon instructs the liver to release stored glucose, which causes the body's blood sugar levels to rise.
For fasting sugar you cannot eat anything. For post prandial you can eat a banana before the test.
If HBA1C is 6.8% then it is considered to be Diabetes and you need to consult a Physician
The blood sugar levels are slightly elevated if it crossed 140mg/dl that means that your are falling under the category diabetes.
