High blood glucose levels during pregnancy can also increase the chance that your baby will be born too early, weigh too much, or have breathing problems or low blood glucose right after birth. It can also induce still births in pregnant woman. Hence, speak with a doctor if glucose is high.
Avoid eating high sugar foods and drinks a night before the test for sugar not to spike and one gets a normal glucose test.
Usually gestational diabetes has no symptoms, however, increased thirst and hyperglycemia may occur in woman who have gestational diabetes.
Impaired glucose tolerance test is done to evaluate prediabetes.
