With all the new research data, Hypertension is defined only by increase in numbers in blood pressure which applies similarly for all adults above 18 years of age. Normal blood pressure is a reading less than 120/80 mm Hg. Any reading above 120/80 mm Hg checked consequently for three days needs a doctor's opinion.
Most common side effects include abdominal cramps, daytime fatigue, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, irritability and disruption in circadian rhythm (Sleep - wake cycle). Also, caution must be taken in the form of repeated monitorings when prescribed for persons with blood pressure, liver disorder and seizure disorder.
There is no specific timeline of sideeffects which can commonly apply for all medicines. It depends on the duration of usage, dosage of medicine used and half-life elimination of the drug from the body.
Type I or anaphylactic reactions which occur in food/drug allergies, hay fever, allergic rhinitis and asthma. Type II or cytotoxic reactions which occur in mismatched blood transfusion, immune mediated hemolysis or thrombocytopenia. Type III or Immunocomplex reactions which occur in Rheumatoid arthritis , Systemic lupus Erythematosus. Type IV or cell mediated reactions is a delayed hypersensitivity which occur few hours after exposure to any allergens.
