I've been feeling a really strong pulse in my head for the past couple of days, and yesterday I noticed it in my rib area too. It feels like there's an extra heartbeat or something. I've tried to ignore it, but it's so uncomfortable and it's been messing up my sleep. I even woke up with a really fast heart rate today, and it's making me quite anxious. It's like I can't escape this feeling, whether I'm awake or trying to sleep. What should I do to make this go away? Any advice would really help.

Based on your symptoms, it sounds like you may be experiencing palpitations. Palpitations can be caused by various factors such as stress, caffeine intake, dehydration, or underlying medical conditions. To help alleviate your symptoms, you can try taking a beta-blocker medication such as Metoprolol at a dose of 25-50mg once daily. Additionally, it is important to stay hydrated, avoid caffeine and alcohol, and practice relaxation techniques to reduce stress. If your symptoms persist or worsen, it is recommended to seek further evaluation from a healthcare professional.

I'm often finding my pulse rate hitting around 110 per minute even when I'm just resting. My doctor prescribed Betacap TR 40 and mentioned it might just be anxiety. Do you have any advice on whether there are other medications I should consider or any specific tests I should look into to better understand what's going on?

Your doctor has prescribed you Betacap TR 40 for your high pulse rate, which is likely due to anxiety. This medication contains Propranolol and helps in reducing heart rate and controlling symptoms of anxiety. You can take it as prescribed by your doctor. In addition to medication, you may also consider some lifestyle modifications to help manage anxiety and lower your pulse rate. This can include regular exercise, stress-reducing activities like yoga or meditation, and ensuring you get an adequate amount of sleep. As for tests, your doctor may recommend some blood tests to rule out any underlying medical conditions that could be contributing to your high pulse rate. These tests may include thyroid function tests, electrolyte levels, and cardiac enzymes. It's important to follow up with your doctor regularly to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

I'm really worried about my dad. He's been having some discomfort in his left hand, and sometimes right hand, that goes up to his wrist and neck. He's 55 and has been experiencing this for the past few months. His cholesterol levels are at 225, and his blood pressure is around 13075. Do you think these could be signs of a pre-heart attack? I would really appreciate any advice.

These symptoms could indeed be concerning for potential heart issues. It is important to act promptly. I recommend that your father take Aspirin 81mg immediately to help prevent blood clot formation. Additionally, he should take Nitroglycerin sublingual tablets for immediate relief of chest pain or discomfort. It is crucial to seek emergency medical attention as soon as possible.
