  5. I have a boil in my groin area near the scrotum on the left thigh thats been there for 5-6 days. Two days ago, it developed a red, soft center about 0.3x0.3 cm, surrounded by a hard, indurated area measuring 4x2 cm. It started hurting two days ago, so I saw a surgeon who prescribed cefixime, diclofenac, and Su-Mag ointment with dressing. After applying a lot of Su-Mag and dressing it well, the pain went away by the end of the day, but now the boil has an opening. Should I continue with the Su-Mag dressing, stop it since the boil is open, switch to Betadine dressing, or go back to the surgeon for further drainage? What would you suggest?

You should now switch to Betadine dressing to help prevent infection and promote healing of the open wound. Betadine is an antiseptic solution that can be applied to the affected area. Make sure to clean the area gently before applying the Betadine dressing. If you experience any worsening symptoms or signs of infection, it would be advisable to consult the surgeon again for further evaluation and management.
