Hi, my 4-year-old has been getting frequent fevers, and every time we visit the doctor, they suggest giving P250 syrup. Weve already used more than one and a half bottles this time, but the fever still hasnt gone down. The doctor suggested continuing with P250 again today. Im worried if giving P250 repeatedly or in larger quantities could harm his health. He seems to get a fever almost every month, even though all his vaccines are up to date, and weve been giving P250 as recommended. Could there be an underlying issue causing these frequent fevers? Is it safe to keep using this syrup so often?
Giving P250 (Paracetamol) to your child for fever is a common practice, but it is important to ensure that the dosage is appropriate and does not exceed the recommended limits. P250 contains Paracetamol which is generally safe when taken at the correct dosage. However, excessive use or overdose of Paracetamol can lead to serious health issues, including liver damage. Since your child is experiencing frequent fevers, it is advisable to consult with the doctor to investigate the underlying cause of these recurrent fevers. Depending on the diagnosis, the doctor may recommend alternative treatments or further investigations to address the root cause of the fevers. In the meantime, if your child continues to have fever episodes, you can continue giving P250 as per the doctor's recommendation.
