Liver function tests are blood tests that measure different enzymes, proteins, and other substances made by the liver.
High SGPT indicate hepatocellular damage that could be due to viral infections (hepatitis A, B & C), drug (antitubercular drugs, paracetamol, etc.) toxicity.
The SGPT normal range is about 7 to 56 units per liter of blood serum. Anything above 56 indicates that the liver might be slightly damaged thats why it is producing enzymes.
