It has been found that fruits and vegetables such as bananas, apples, apricots, papayas, tomatoes, spinach and water melon are known to increase hemoglobin levels in the body.
For people without diabetes, the normal range for the hemoglobin A1c level is between 4% and 5.6%. Hemoglobin A1c levels between 5.7% and 6.4% mean you have prediabetes and a higher chance of getting diabetes. Levels of 6.5% or higher mean you have diabetes. A level 10 means your diabetes has shot up to alarming levels. Consult with your diabetologist at the earliest to avoid side effects such as foot amputation and blindness.
One way to increase hemoglobin content in the blood is to increase your iron intake. You can do this by eating foods rich in iron. These include spinach, liver and organ meat, cabbage, green beans, and tofu. Folate is a vitamin that your body uses to create haem and is present in spinach, rice, and meat. This way you can increase your hemoglobin levels quickly without medications.
Drinking water does not affect the blood test results hugely. However, if you have been asked to fast then maintain a fasting timings of a minimum 8 hours and maximum 12 hours. During this time, you can sip water if you are feeling dehydrated.
