My father has a history of dermatomyositis since 2005, for which he has been on steroids like dexcona. Due to side effects, he developed a lung infection and went through multiple rounds of DOTS therapy between 2012 and 2015, with the last course ending in April 2017. Recently, he experienced episodes of blood in his mouth, the most recent one occurring around Diwali, leading to two hospitalizations. Is the blood coming out something we should consider normal, or is it concerning? Is there any treatment available for this, and are the medicines he's currently receiving in Kota sufficient, or should we consider getting him treated at AIIMS?
The presence of blood from the mouth is not normal and should be taken seriously, as it could indicate a serious underlying condition. Immediate medical evaluation is necessary to determine the cause and appropriate treatment. It is advisable to seek a second opinion at a specialized hospital like AIIMS for a comprehensive assessment, especially if the current treatment in Kota isn't providing adequate relief.
