I've been dealing with a chronic belching problem ever since my first chest tube 3 years ago. This week, I was back in the hospital with another chest tube, and interestingly enough, I barely burped at all while I was there. Now that I'm back home, the burping has started up again, and it's painful to take a deep breath. I'm really worried my lung might have collapsed again. Could these issues be connected? Should I go back to the hospital?

I'm a bit worried about something I noticed on my chest x-ray. It showed fibrolinear densities in the lungs, and I'm trying to understand what this means. Just a little backgroundI had TB about 10 years ago and went through the 6-month treatment for it. Now, I'm about to have a pre-employment physical exam, and I didn't mention my TB history during the interview. Should I be concerned about this affecting my exam results or my job prospects?

Fibrolinear densities on your chest X-ray likely represent old scar tissue from your previous TB infection and treatment 10 years ago. These findings are generally not active disease but could raise questions during a pre-employment exam if not explained. Its best to clarify your history if asked, as treated TB is typically not a barrier to employment.

After being on tuberculosis treatment for 2.5 months, I've started coughing up blood. What could be causing this, and what should I do?

After 2.5 months of TB treatment, blood coming from the mouth after coughing could be a sign of a serious complication known as hemoptysis. This can occur due to damage to the lungs caused by the TB infection. It is important to address this issue promptly. I would recommend you to consult your healthcare provider immediately for further evaluation and management. In the meantime, continue with your TB treatment as prescribed. Your doctor may consider adjusting your treatment regimen or providing additional medications to help control the bleeding.

I'm really worried about my grandfather. He just had a CT scan, and the doctors in our town said he has ILD. Given everything going on with the pandemic, we're struggling to get him to see a pulmonologist in a bigger city. He smoked once, worked at a cotton mill for two decades, and has been in agriculture and poultry farming. With all this, plus his age, I'm just wondering how much longer we can wait before seeing a specialist. Are there any temporary measures or remedies we can take at home to keep his ILD from getting worse until we can get that appointment? Would love any advice you can share.
