Dr Susmitha Chandran

Dr. Susmitha C. has over 8 years of experience in the field of Ayurveda. She completed her Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery from the Government Ayurveda College, Tripunithura under M G University from 2008 to 2013, securing a university rank. She pursued her postgraduate studies at VPSV Ayurveda College, Kottakkal from 2016 to 2019, also achieving a university rank.

Dr. Susmitha specializes in a comprehensive range of neurological and psychiatric conditions, also autoimmune disorders focusing on pediatric and adult populations. Her expertise covers neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and learning disabilities, as well as neuropsychiatry, addressing the complex interplay between neurological and psychiatric symptoms. She is also well-versed in managing neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and Parkinson’s disease.

In child psychiatry, Dr. Susmitha is dedicated to addressing mental health conditions in children and adolescents, along with pediatric developmental disorders involving speech, motor skills, and cognitive development. Her experience extends to the management of cerebral palsy, focusing on movement, muscle tone, and motor skills, as well as the treatment of various physical and mental health conditions in children. Additionally, she provides comprehensive care for a wide range of other health conditions across all age groups.

Dr. Susmitha has held several key positions in her career. She served as the Chief Consultant in Kerala Ayurveda and Shree Varma Multispecialty Clinic & Panchakarma Centre. Additionally, she worked as a Psychiatry Specialist Consultant at Niyaama Ayurveda Hospital, Thrissur, and as the Chief Consultant at Sri Apoorva Vaidhya Speciality Clinic, Palakkad. Dr. Susmitha worked as an Ayurveda Psychiatry Specialist Medical Officer at the Government Ayurveda District Hospital under the Indian System of Medicine, Trissur. She also served as a Medical Officer in the Kaumarabhrithya Department (Child Specialty) at Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College.

Her extensive clinical training includes a dissertation study setting at the Ayurvedic Child and Adolescent Care Centre, Purakkattiri, Kozhikkode under Dr. Sreekumar N., and three years of clinical training at the Government Ayurveda Research Institute for Mental Health, Kottakkal as part of her postgraduate program. Dr. Susmitha is a clinical expert in Ayurveda psychotherapy, specifically Smriti meditation. She has also undergone training at the Psychiatry Department of NIMHANS, Bangalore, and participated as a consulting physician for medical camps at Suvaidya Health Care, Centre for Learning Disability Management. Her achievements include first prizes in JNANATAPASYA International Paper Presentation Competition at Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College and Pravya National Seminar, as well as several awards for her presentations on topics such as Psychodermatology and Ayurveda therapy in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Dr. Susmitha's dissertation focused on Ayurveda Management in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), exploring the effectiveness of Ayurvedic interventions in alleviating ADHD symptoms in children. She has two published articles, one focusing on ADHD and another on Psoriasis, reflecting her expertise in managing both neurological and dermatological conditions using Ayurvedic principles.
