Dr Arun Prasad

Dr. Arun Prasad, FRCS (UK), FRCSEd, FACS (USA), MS (MAMC), MBBS (AFMC), is a renowned Surgical Gastroenterologist and General Surgeon with over 35 years of experience as a surgeon makes him one of the most experienced surgeons in India and Globally doing laparoscopy (1990), advanced laparoscopy (1997), single incision laparoscopy (2010), bariatric surgery (2004), robotic surgery (2012) and bariatric endoscope (2018)

Medical graduate from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He did his masters in surgery from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi in 1988 and went to UK for higher surgical training in GI surgery.

There after doing FRCS in 1990, he worked at Charing Cross Medical School, London and associated hospitals. Laparoscopic surgery was started by his team at that hospital.

On his return from UK in 1996, he joined Apollo Hospitals as one of the youngest senior consultants. He was also conferred with the prestigious FACS (USA) in 2019.

Pioneer in laparoscopy in UK and India. 1st generation for Advanced GI laparoscopy, Thoracoscopy, SILS, Bariatric & Robotic Surgery in India with many 1st surgeries.

He has been at the forefront of robotic surgery since 2012, performing advanced robotic surgery procedures such as abdominal wall repair AWR, hiatus hernia fundoplication repair, gastric bypass, bariatric, thymectomy and colorectal cancer surgeries.

After earning his FRCS in 1990, he trained at Charing Cross Medical School, London. Upon returning to India in 1996, he joined Apollo Hospitals as one of its youngest senior consultants, where he currently serves as the Clinical Lead, Adjunct Professor, and Clinical Tutor in Surgical Gastroenterology, Bariatric, and Robotic Surgery.
