Preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in offices

Recently, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) issued new standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to contain the spread of COVID-19 in offices and workplaces. The objective of the fresh SOPs is to prevent the spread of infection and to respond in a timely and effective manner in case suspected cases of COVID-19 are detected in offices and workplaces.
The document states that offices and workplaces are closed settings where the COVID-19 infection can spread relatively fast among officials, staff, and visitors. The SOPs included in the document have outlined certain preventive and response measures that must be observed to contain the spread of COVID-19 in office settings. The document is divided into the following sub-sections:
i. Generic preventive measures to be followed at all times
ii. Measures specific to offices
iii. Measures to be taken on occurrence of the case(s)
iv. Disinfection procedures to be implemented in case of occurrence of suspect/confirmed case
