Our elders often emphasize drinking lukewarm water every morning to kick start our day on a healthy note. However, is plain water enough? Well, studies reveal adding certain ingredients such as jeera, lemon, and cinnamon can improve your gut health significantly. In this article, we are going to discuss five such health drinks that will improve your immunity and freshen you up in the mornings.
1. Lemon Water
Lemons can help detoxify your body by giving you a healthy dose of Vitamin C so that you have a fresh start to the day. Lemons are also high in antioxidants, thus they protect your vital organs from oxidative damage.
How to prepare - Firstly pour some water into a bowl and heat it. Cut a lemon in two halves and squeeze both into the bowl of water. You can also add a tablespoon of honey to balance out the sour flavour. Stir properly till the water becomes a little cloudy.
2. Cinnamon Water
Having a glass of cinnamon and honey water can help you manage blood sugar levels, provide protection against heart disease, and reduce inflammation in the body.
You may add honey to it to balance the taste.
How to prepare - Take a glass of water and add a spoonful of honey to it. Then add a pinch of cinnamon and stir the mixture well. You can also add ice cubes if you like your drinks chilled.
3. Coconut Water
Plain coconut water tends to act as an energy drink helping hydrate your body instantly. it can help balance the electrolytes in the body, which are responsible for maintaining blood pressure. It tastes really good and the best part is that you can have it anytime and anywhere you want since it does not require additional ingredients.
4. Jeera Water
Jeera water has been used since the Ayurvedic era due to its digestive benefits. This low-calorie drink is packed with antioxidants that help improve digestion and increase metabolism.
How to prepare - Just soak a handful of cumin seeds in a bowl of water and let it rest overnight. This will cause the seeds to swell up and release bioactive compounds into the bowl. After you get up in the morning you can chug the drink as it is.
5. Methi Water
Methi dana, also known as fenugreek seeds, help in managing diabetes and blood sugar. It also flushes out the toxins from your body, further improving your digestion. Having methi water empty stomach helps with acid reflux and also helps you stay hydrated.
How to prepare - Soak a handful of methi seeds in a bowl filled with boiling-hot water. Let it rest overnight. After you wake up, use a strainer to remove the seeds from the water. Drink the liquid without adding anything to it.
